Patient: XXXXXX Date of exam: 21/3/2011
Date of Birth: Date of Study: 8/5/2011
Gender: F Referred By: Dr. AKL
DIAGNOSTIC OBJECTIVE:
Assessment of the anatomical structures included in the volume:
Evaluate of the bone height and width (left lower sector)
Evaluate of the low density image in the right anterior mandibular section in relation with tooth # 42
RADIOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUE:
Dentascan imaging series. A radiology report to evaluate the anatomical volume was performed.
RADIOGRAPHIC FINDINGS:
The listed structures are reviewed and evaluated for bilateral symmetry, configuration, cortical outline, medullary space, and patent sinuses/airways. Evaluation of the dentascan anatomical volume is intended as an overall review for pathology and abnormalities not directly associated with dental and periodontal conditions best imaged by conventional dental radiography.
All viewed structures determined to have no significant findings are reported as no abnormalities detected.
Paranasal Sinuses: No abnormalities detected
Nasal Cavities: Little thickening of the nasal mucosa with a slight left lateral deviation of the septum with a presence of a concha bullosa in the middle concha which may narrow the air passage.
Airway: No abnormalities detected
Temporomandibular Joints: Both joints are well visualized and no abnormalities are detected
Osseous Structures: Edentulous posterior left lower segment covering the three molars and measuring horizontally 23.88 mm (screen shots at the end of the report).
Opposing the middle fossa of the second upper molar the inferior bony height on the para axial cut is 11.42 mm to the IAN and the bucco lingual width 6.83 mm (screen shots at the end of the report).
Opposing the middle fossa of the first upper molar the inferior bony height on the para axial cut is 13.35 mm to the IAN and the bucco lingual width 4.79mm (screen shots at the end of the report).
Opposing the fossa of the second upper premolar the inferior bony height on the para axial cut is 10.9 mm to the MF and the bucco lingual width 4.78 mm (screen shots at the end of the report).
Under the tooth #42 a low density image is visible measuring mesio distally 7.04mm, 7.56 mm in the corono apical aspect and 5.5 mm in the bucco lingual direction at the center point (screen shots at the end of the report).
Dental findings: Little angular resorption at the apex of the tooth #42
Other findings: No abnormalities detected
IMPRESSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
All viewed structures were determined to have no significant findings and are reported as no abnormalities detected except:
*The low density images in relation of the tooth #42 is consistent with a periapical cyst.
*This finding is to be correlated with the clinical findings
*The possibility of other differential diagnosis may not be ruled out.
The purpose of this image examination is to provide an evaluation of the regional anatomical volume not directly involved with the specific intent of the imaging examination. Evaluation is limited to the capability of the dentascan imaging and any further assessment of dental related conditions is best performed by conventional dental radiography. This is a consultative report only and is not intended to be a definitive diagnosis or treatment plan.
